The Association records, with regret, the death of the following members:

- Peter Bradnam
- Derick Grey
It is with sadness that I have to report that Derick Grey of Southrepps passed away yesterday evening. Derick was an Honary Life Member, having been a member for over 60 years, ringing his first Peal at Buxton in 1964. Not only a good ringer, Derick was involved in several Bell Restoration projects, including the augmentations at Southrepps in 1984 and Gimingham in 1990, both of these Towers being very active over the following decades. Derick did much to help local ringing in North Norfolk at many Towers, until he was unable to climb the Stairs and Ladders, due to mobility issues. We were pleased to ring a Quarter Peal at Knapton last year, for Derick’s 90th Birthday, which he was pleased to attend. RIP Derick, a great Ringer and a lovely Man. - Len Raphael
Leonard Morris Raphael was born 24th May 1941. He lived with his Mother in Lowestoft, Suffolk. In 1958 he started learning how to ring on the eight bells at St. Margaret’s church, Lowestoft under the guidance of Albert Coleman, tower captain at the time. He honed his craft alongside other local ringers, Michael Parker, Richard Brown and Michael Utton.
After moving to Norwich, in Norfolk he rang regularly on the six bells at St. Margaret’s Drayton. He moved to Thurlton, a small village in South Norfolk, around 1985 and married Josephine who had a daughter, Annie. He was a paramedic for many years until his retirement. During his years at Thurlton, he regularly attended the weekly practices held at Norton Subcourse and was often out at Kessingland, Pakefield, Carlton Colville, and Somerleyton, on his motor bike supporting their practice nights. He was also well known for his waxed moustache and a witty tale or joke in the ringing room! He was a member of the Norwich Diocesan Association of Ringers for many years ringing most of his sixteen peals for the Association. He also rang many quarter peals and was much missed when he had to give up ringing due to ill health around 2013.
Lenny lived his last days with Josephine in a care home in Beccles, Suffolk. He died in hospital on 29th April 2025 just short of his 84th birthday.
We said goodbye to Lenny at Norton Subcourse on 5th June ringing him into church with some lovely Half Muffled call changes which his family said he would have liked very much. RIP Lenny.
Steve Rabong and Norman Cossey.

- Alex Holden
Alex lived at Gt. Moulton and decided he would like to learn to ring at an open towers day. He learned to handle a bell at Long Stratton and ring rounds and call changes. He also rang at Carleton Rode. He had to give up ringing through ill health and died during the night of the 17th/18th August.
