The Annual General Meetings of the Norwich Diocesan Association and of its Bell Restoration Fund will be held in Kings Lynn on Saturday, 28 August 2021.
Programme and Ringing Arrangements
Details are still being finalised. However, the following is a provisional schedule for the day. Please check back here for confirmation of details closer to the date.
10.00 – 10.45 ringing at St Nicholas, 6, tenor 9 cwt in G
Monday 19:00 Dersingham – good ring of 6 (9-0-8 in G) – stone staircase, well spaced ropes and door opens into nave for extra ventilation
11.15 – 12.00 ringing at St Faith, 6, tenor 12 cwt in G
Thursday 19:00 Gaywood – excellent tower for learners – 6 (12-0-16 in G) – short staircase and a gallery that opens into the church, which makes it easy to manage numbers in the ringing chamber
Break for Lunch – plenty of options in King’s Lynn, and the Marriotts Trust Meeting meeting room will also be available if you bring your own sandwiches
13.30 – 14.30 for those who want a break from ringing, a brief walking introduction to some of the historic parts of King’s Lynn (with one of the King’s Lynn Town Guides) – a wealthy, important port and merchant town dating back to the 11th century – in the 1204 it was third in prosperity to London and Southampton
13.45 – 14.30 ringing at Terrington St Clement, a well maintained and spacious stand alone tower across the river in Ely Diocese 8 (11-3-4 in F) and features in a film of Dorothy Sayers ‘Nine Tailors’
15.00 – 15.30 ringing at 10, tenor 28 cwt in C
Wednesday 19:00 except 3rd (held at St Nicholas instead)King's Lynn St Margaret – now with easy access, welfare facilities and large, airy ringing chamber, you will be spoiled by these glorious 10 (28-1-4 in C)
15.30 – 16.15 short service in The Minster
16.15 – 18.00 Tea and meeting in Marriotts Trust Meeting room, South Quay, King’s Lynn PE30 5DY. Due to the continuing issues caused by COVID only tea and coffee will be provided although food will be available from Marriotts Restaurant
18.00 onwards ringing at 10, tenor 28 cwt in C
Wednesday 19:00 except 3rd (held at St Nicholas instead)King's Lynn St Margaret – QP anyone?
