2013 Association 6-Bell Striking Competition

2013 Association 6-Bell Striking Competition will be held on Saturday 4th May at 6, tenor 10 cwt in F#
Thursday 19:30
Weston Longville
at 19h30 after the Association AGMs.  Our ringing Master sets out the rules and encouranges you to enter.

I hope you’ve been practising for the Association Striking Competition. If not, don’t worry – it’s only what you strive to achieve every Sunday morning in your home tower. The rules (below) are pretty flexible and can be flexed still further on the day. The judge will be kind. The atmosphere is always informal. In fact, we’ll have a laugh and, maybe, have a pint afterwards. Please let me know if you intend to enter, either call-change or method competitions, or both, by e-mail to the Ringing Master

F Nolan Golden Rose Bowl – 6 bell Method

(a) 120 changes in any Doubles or Minor Method.

(b) The majority of the band must ring together regularly at one tower.

(c) No ringer may compete in more than one band in this section.

(d) No more than one minute of rounds will be allowed before changes commence.

(e) All changes will be judged, but not the rounds rung before or after the test piece.

Wymondham Trophy – 6 bell Call Changes

(b) The majority of the band must ring together regularly at one tower.

(c) No ringer may compete in more than one band in this section.

(d) No band may include more than three ringers who are also competing in section 1.

(e) Any other person, at the request of the call change band, may assist that band by calling the changes for them or counting the number of rows rung.

(f) No more than one minute of rounds will be allowed before changes commence.

(g) The 12 changes are to be completed by row 120. Incomplete changes will be counted as faults and any extra rows will also be judged.

(h) At least five of the bells must be moved from their original place.

(i) Judging will encompass all 120 rows of changes, but not the rounds rung before or after the test piece.

Bands must comprise of paid-up members of the Association.

Each band shall submit to the Ringing Master, before the draw, a list bearing the names of each member.

In both competitions, bands from 5-bell towers are welcome to compete without the use of a tenor cover, with prior notice to the Ringing Master.

Three minutes’ practice will be allowed prior to each test piece, and time to adjust ropes if necessary. Two whole pulls on the Treble will signal the start of the test piece.

In the event of a dispute, or a change to the rules on the day, the matter will be settled on a vote comprising of the Association Ringing Master and the Branch Ringing Masters there present.
